inBachs / 10/10 Organizational Habits for your Private Lesson Studio

Being organized as an independent private lesson teacher is about being able to make better decisions.

When we look at the studios in our program that tell us like they feel like organized, the same few habits keep showing up.

1. Have a written studio policy, and actually use it

Most teachers have a policy, but you also need to be comfortable using it and talking about it with your paying clients.

Not sure what belongs in your policy? I walk through it here in this video.

2. Use a studio management platform

If your studio runs on a spreadsheet, a notes app, Venmo, and a lot of text threads, you are doing too much by hand. A studio management platform puts scheduling, billing, and reminders together for you. It’s worth the investment!

If you want to see more about the platforms that Outside The Bachs studios choose you can read more about studio management software here.

Quick note: we do have a referral relationship with these tools & we share them because 10+ of our program studios use each one.

3. Be ready before the student logs on

It’s hard enough to recruit online students for your studio, and once you have them enrolled, be very respectful of their time. Make a huge effort to log in a few minutes early so that you can deliver on your promise and make it feel as much like an in-person lesson.

4. Time block for admin

Try putting one recurring hour on your calendar each week, same day, same time, just for invoices, emails, scheduling and admi work.

Bonus if you can set expectations for when you will reply and through what channel.

Want to have a conversation?

If you’d like help figuring out which system your studio needs first, we’d love to chat. Book a free strategy session. Because most of the business side of teaching private lessons was never talked about in school. No pitch or pressure on these calls to join our programming but if you are interested in having that conversation we most certainly will!
